ACL Brisbane 2015 Wrap-Up

May 30-31 saw the return of ACL competitors to The Edge in the heart of Brisbane's Southbank district. ACL Brisbane not only featured the long-running circuit title Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, but also welcomed the return of Halo with the Master Chief Collection.

The best teams throughout Australia and New Zealand flocked to ACL Brisbane for an opportunity to prove themselves, fight for the title of ANZ Champions, and compete for their share in over $5000 in cash and prizes.

In Call of Duty; Mindfreak, Trident and Uproar.iG stood out from the pack, placing first, second and third respectively. Following close behind, young guns Incept proved they had what it takes to compete with ANZCOD's best. Their series against AVANT will be one to remember, where they took complete control and eliminated AVANT from the competition on the Astro Feature Station as a massive crowd watched on.

In the Grand Final, Mindfreak once again showcased their dominance over the Australian Call of Duty scene, flawlessly defeating Trident 6-0 in continuation, taking home first place. Mindfreak only dropped 2 maps throughout the entire competition, solidifying their place as the strongest team in Australian and New Zealand.

Meanwhile, Halo saw the return of some old school veteran, mixed in with a lot of newer faces and talent. Latecomers Citadel and Trident took the competition by storm, surging through the Winners Bracket before meeting each other in the semi-finals. As Trident were thrown into the Losers Bracket Final, they fought their way back against Team Positivity, defeating them 3-2 and earning their chance for revenge.

Being down 3-1 from continuation, Trident made a heroic effort to bounce back. Despite falling short, they forced Citadel to work for their ACL Brisbane victory, securing three games of their own in the final before being taken down 6-4.

A massive thank you goes out to the sponsors of ACL Brisbane: Astro Gaming, BenQ and HyperX! Congratulations to our ACL Brisbane winners, we look forward to seeing you in Sydney!
