ESL to partner with the Australian Cyber League to strengthen the Oceanic eSports scene.

ESL is pleased to announce that it will be partnering with the Australian Cyber League (ACL) in order to help strengthen the presence of the esports community in the Oceanic region.

ACL have been a pioneer of Oceanic esports since 2006, and have also been operating VIM Media & Events - a technical events agency - since 2011. With an intimate knowledge of the scene, ACL and VIM Media & Events have been delivering high-quality events and broadcasts with a focus on hosting for years, and have established the company as the region’s most well-known esports provider.

Having worked with some of the world’s most prolific gaming publishers and having provided Australia with its first and only consistent esports circuit with multiple live events, ACL’s reputation is a well earned one.

Sebastian Weishaar, VP of International Business at ESL, said of the partnership:

“We’re a truly global company that saw a successful expansion into North America last year, having previously established ourselves in Europe and Asia. Today, we’re happy to announce that we will now also be focusing on the Oceanic region. We consistently see Oceanic teams compete in major competitions, such as Intel Extreme Masters and ESL One, against teams from more established regions. With our new partnership, we’re committed to giving the Oceanic region a fairer shot at major international competition by giving them more opportunities to compete at a higher level within their own countries.”

Nick Vanzetti, MD at ACL, echoed these sentiments, saying:

“We have long been looking up to ESL as the global leader in the space, producing some of world’s best esports events. It makes great sense to partner with ESL. This partnership will allow us to level up the current esports offering and truly put our region on the map. There are some exciting projects already in development which we look forward to sharing with the passionate fans of our growing scene.”

ESL’s Australian operations will be conducted from Sydney, New South Wales, with ACL to continue to provide clients with its existing portfolio of services.

One of ACL’s first big ventures with ESL will be running a AU$55,555 Counter-Strike Invitational in association with Crown, which will see Australia and New Zealand’s top CS:GO teams go head to head against each other as well as top global teams Cloud9 and Virtus.pro. Set to take place on Saturday the 10th of October at The Palms, tickets will go on sale on Monday the 31st of August, starting at AU$55.

Operations from ESL Australia will now run directly off of ESL Play: http://play.eslgaming.com/australia
