This thread is for discussion about your favourite songs, albums and artists. Don't just chuck up a YouTube link of your favourite song, give us a reason to check it out! Tell us about the song or artist and tell us why it's good.

Album: A Sense of Purpose
Artist: In Flames
Genre: Melodic Death Metal

This album is nothing short of FUCKING AMAZING. This album brings out a softer side of In Flames that contains so much raw emotion it's unbelievable. The album is much more melodic and progressive than their previous work.

Check out the song 'Delight and Angers' for a taste of what to expect.

Album: Horizons
Artist: Parkway Drive
Genre: Metalcore

Ok, so thanks to a bunch of hardcore kids walking around looking like Corey wankers I never gave Parkway Drive a fair chance. I looked at their fan base and automatically decided they must suck. I was quite wrong...

Horizons will kick your ass. It's brutal, yet at the same time it's melodic. There's some great song writing on this album and for those who aren't aware, my team name actually comes out of the lyrics to the song 'Idols and Anchors'. If you thought metalcore bands couldn't play guitar listen to the shredfest that is 'Breaking Point' and you should change your mind very quickly.

The album ends with the title track 'Horizons' and the emotion that comes out of that song is chilling. The point of the song where he screams "Embrace our last empty horizon" sends chills down my spine.

Album: An Ocean Between Us
Artist: As I Lay Dying
Genre: Metalcore

Such an amazing album. I love this album because of the lyrics. I can relate to almost every word on this album. 'The Sound of Truth' has been my favourite song for about 2 years now and it never seems to get old. The lyrics make you look within yourself and I'm yet to hear another artist that can make me do the same.

Album: The Heart of Everything
Artist: Within Temptation
Genre: Symphonic Power Metal

This girls voice is gorgeous. Lots of epic symphony stuff as well as some heavy guitar riffs. Check out 'Frozen' and 'What Have You Done'

Album: Erotic Cakes
Artist: Guthrie govan
Genre: Fusion jazz?

Amazing guitarist, got showed to him by my guitar teacher and slayers brother showed me him too...
Heres an example of one of his songs,Wonderful slippery thing.

He plays almost perfect live and nearly spot on which is amazing for how complex his some of the stuff he plays.

Album: Apoligies are for the weak
Artist: Miss may I
Genre: Metal
One of their songs, Architect.
Pretty good band that I've been playing at school that the drummer showed me. They sound like a mix of black of dahlia murder/bring me the horizon to me but yea. The drums are pretty sick and he does some cool triplet double kicks. But looking at the video they do the gay mosh like attack attack but doesnt change the fact they make good music to me.

Most of the people I know feel In Flames gets worse with each album. Nice to see I'm not alone on thinking this.

Album: The Onslaught
Artist: Lazarus A.D.
Genre: Thrash Metal

If you're a fan of old school thrash you will fall in love with this band instantly. Ass kicking solo's, fast and heavy riffs and angry vocals. If you like Metallica, Megadeth, Exodus, Pantera, Death Angel, Slayer, etc, etc, you need to check these guys out. Listen to 'Revolution' and 'Thou Shall Not Fear'.

Posted Image

Album: Rebirth of the Temple
Artist: Silent Civilian
Genre: Metalcore

Very melodic metalcore band. One of the best bands to come out of the genre but receive little attention. Angry verses, catchy sing-a-long choruses and face melting solo's. What more could you want? Check out 'The Song Remains Un-Named' and 'Rebirth of the Temple'.

Posted Image

Album: Only Inhuman
Artist: Sonic Syndicate
Genre: Metalcore

To get a real taste of this band you'll need to check out a few of their songs. This band makes a good combination out of 2 male vocalists. For a heavy song check out 'Denied' and to get a taste of their lighter side check out 'Enclave'.

If you like anything I've posted let me know and I'll show you some similar bands.

Have you heard Sea of Treachery? You'd probably like them.

Purging the Wicked

Posted Image

Album: Arise and Conquer
Artist: War of Ages
Genre: Metalcore

Another awesome Metalcore band without much attention. If you like the more melodic Metalcore bands like Atreyu, Bullet for My Valentine and All That Remains check them out. 'All Consuming Fire'

Posted Image

Album: Saints
Artist: Destroy the Runner
Genre: Metalcore

Awesome band. I'm more of a fan of their first album, their 2nd album has taken a more Post-Hardcore sound. Sounds a bit like Still Remains. Check out the song 'Saints'.

Posted Image

Album: The Unveiling
Artist: Cry of the Afflicted
Genre: Post-Hardcore

Unfortunately this band isn't around any more. They had a really awesome sound that I haven't heard from any other bands. If you're a fan of Underoath you'll probably appreciate them. Check out 'Lift the Veil'. Really awesome song writing from these guys.

Only Inhuman is a great album. There latest album 'Love and Other Disasters' is a bit more on the softer side but it's still ok. They've got a new album coming out very soon as well, you can check out the single on YouTube. They've got a new vocalist on it. Apparently the old vocalist is going to be starting a project with one of the guys from In Flames...

Album: Vicious Delicious

An interesting band and album, isn't as techno/trancey as people would think has in a couple of the songs some interesting guitar solo's.

Hey Pyro is there anyway for you to enable quotes to be quoted to be quoted etc.

Right now when you quote a post with a quote in it, it disappears :(

There's probably an option. I'm kinda hesitant to enable it though if there is, people are so stupid when it comes to posting and they don't realise they only need to quote the part of the post they're replying to, not 20 quotes within each other just to type a 1 sentence reply...

With that said...

It's Aussie hardcore/metalcore time...

Album: Severed Ties
Artist: The Amity Affliction
Genre: Post-Hardcore

Post-Hardcore band coming from Brisbane. The new Amity Affliction sound isn't as good as their older stuff IMO. Decide for yourself. 'Fruity Lexia' from their full length album.

Posted Image

Album: The Amity Affliction EP
Artist: The Amity Affliction
Genre: Post-Hardcore

Check out 'Severed' for a taste of their older sound without the synth.

Album: As Silence Breaks
Artist: As Silence Breaks
Genre: Metalcore

Awesome band from Sydney. Seen these guys live a few times, they kick some serious ass. If they're playing in your area be sure to check them out. Melodic metalcore band, brutal vocals, chugging guitars, awesome solo's, sick break downs, catchy choruses. Here's my favourite song by them 'Who Said Jealousy's a Curse?'.

Posted Image

Album: Arrival (EP)
Artist: The Rose Line
Genre: Metalcore

Melodic yet brutal Metalcore from Melbourne. 'We Close Our Eyes'.

Posted Image

Album: Forfeiture (EP)
Artist: House vs Hurricane
Genre: Post-Hardcore/Trance

A Post-Hardcore band with a side of Trance. Yes, that's right. Trance. Check it out - 'Forfeiture'. These guys have just released a new album called Perspectives, so keep an eye out for it. They come from Melbourne so check them out if they're playing in your area.
