Album: A Sense of Purpose
Artist: In Flames
Genre: Melodic Death Metal
This album is nothing short of FUCKING AMAZING. This album brings out a softer side of In Flames that contains so much raw emotion it's unbelievable. The album is much more melodic and progressive than their previous work.
Check out the song 'Delight and Angers' for a taste of what to expect.

Album: Horizons
Artist: Parkway Drive
Genre: Metalcore
Ok, so thanks to a bunch of hardcore kids walking around looking like Corey wankers I never gave Parkway Drive a fair chance. I looked at their fan base and automatically decided they must suck. I was quite wrong...
Horizons will kick your ass. It's brutal, yet at the same time it's melodic. There's some great song writing on this album and for those who aren't aware, my team name actually comes out of the lyrics to the song 'Idols and Anchors'. If you thought metalcore bands couldn't play guitar listen to the shredfest that is 'Breaking Point' and you should change your mind very quickly.
The album ends with the title track 'Horizons' and the emotion that comes out of that song is chilling. The point of the song where he screams "Embrace our last empty horizon" sends chills down my spine.

Album: An Ocean Between Us
Artist: As I Lay Dying
Genre: Metalcore
Such an amazing album. I love this album because of the lyrics. I can relate to almost every word on this album. 'The Sound of Truth' has been my favourite song for about 2 years now and it never seems to get old. The lyrics make you look within yourself and I'm yet to hear another artist that can make me do the same.

Album: The Heart of Everything
Artist: Within Temptation
Genre: Symphonic Power Metal
This girls voice is gorgeous. Lots of epic symphony stuff as well as some heavy guitar riffs. Check out 'Frozen' and 'What Have You Done'
