~ Building my own gaming house / pre-lan venue ~

Location :

Probably Brisbane - (How many can attend locally and interstate for intense and rec LANS)

Equipment costs :

Anyone know the networking equipment involved / round about prices?

Is this all I need?

http://www.msy.com.a...?productId=2697

ES-5800G is Edimax’s new, smart-green Ethernet switch with gigabit speed that lessens energy-wastage to increase energy-efficiency. No more sluggish or failed, large-file transfer because this switch facilitates rapid, large-file transfers as well. ES-5800G is the ideal, energy-saving switch integrated with eight 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit ports. It is designed to meet the increased demands of transferring large files speedily across networks. The switch detects the length of the Ethernet cable connection and automatically supplies the right amount of energy. It also reduces power consumption when ports are idle.

What :

A place where teams can come from anywhere in Aus to sharpen their teamwork and relax in a fun / focused / SAFE environment.

Other :

This is something I've wanted to provide for a long time but I live in Toowoomba not a major city so I ruled out the chances.

I'll most probably be moving to Brisbane at the end of the year I'd like a rough idea of how many players would be interested in Lan practices.

My main goal is to get as many people to bring their teams to practice here as possible to increase performance overall for ACL competitors.

I think this is important for encouraging teams to sticking together and build chemistry.

Support VanZr :

Vanzr does an AMAZING job providing these lans everywhere SO ATTEND THEM!! I hope this helps to encourage new and old gamers.

Think about whether you would be interested in this talk to your team mates etc and get back to me on here <3 SamJaY

If enough interest / good situation I'll get right to the organising.

I won't lie. I'm an emotional guy. There were some soft tears. I've been playing Halo since 2004 and never has a team gone to MLG. The boys did me proud today. I'm proud to be the 'mother of Australian Halo'.
There I said it. Now never repeat this again.

Sounds pretty sick. It would probably have more chance of succeeding in Sydney though.

I live in Brisbane and I'd love it.

As for costs, a monitor is around 200-250, so if you wanted 8 people you'd need to spend around 1600-1800 on monitors, and probs 2000 something on xboxs.

Then there's the furniture such as the desks/chairs and maybe a couch for people to relax on.

Probs spending at least $6000 on this if you go ahead with it.

Edit: Actually didn't read properly, is it BYO?

Are there really more lan attenders there?

Anyway I have just found flights for $154 return including 20kg luggage (Which is cheap as)
Plus I won't be charging for people to attend just byo general lan equipment.

Buying the equipment is something I would seriously look into only once I had maximum capacity.

For the meantime I will say bring the equipment you would for a tournament but of course tables , chairs , highspeed lanning networks I would provide.

IF I needed to I might just hire them all for a week or two? hiring 8 monitors cant be more than $600 the only thing is then I would need to charge small amounts to cover costs.

So atm BYO lan equipment = Free entry , accomm if needed , safe environment for a wicked learning environment.

Air con. Shed in summer can be hell.
Plenty of motivational posters.

If you are looking at buying all the gear, surely just buy some refurbished 360s. Can get them next to nothing if you can find the right places (or eBay).

Ahh Tranq it will require people to bring their monitors and xboxes just like we would for a lan , that's simply because I need support before I invest.

There's no point me buying 16 monitors only to find out we don't have a strong enough community to support it :)

So at first it will definitely be bring your own monitor / xbox :) It's not that hard you can pick up relatively cheap screen and monitor protection for long trips.
And your xbox can be carry on :)

But for those from bris just put it up in your cars :)
