As you may all be aware by now, Decerto has recently branched out to the Australian Call of Duty scene, to broaden the premier coverage that we provide for eSports. It is an enormous step in the right direction for Call of Duty, beneficial for both the Australian & European communities & teams, melding us closer together. This article we present to the community today, is to show you a bit about the Australian 4v4 community, so please, take your time to read, and enjoy.
One can safely assume, that the Australian Call of Duty scene indeed has, a bloody history. Forming out of the remnants from the lost, competitive communities of mainly Rainbow Six Vegas & Gears of War, and websites such as AussieXbox & GotGames Xbox section, a few pioneers of the community and ladders rose from the ashes to form what one would call, the premier hub of COD in Australia, CyberGamer. The year 2008 was the beginning of CyberGamer Xbox, and it was the start of something big for COD in Australia & New Zealand. Predominantly a 5v5 S&D community, Australian players were vying for that number one spot as the best COD team in the country, over 4 consecutive Call of Duty titles over 4 years. 2012, as it seems, is to be the year of the 4v4 community.
Prior to Modern Warfare 2, the 4v4 gametype & other objective based game types (such as capture the flag, domination, sabotage, demolition & team deathmatch) were all considered lower class, nothing of importance, and above all, if you had any ounce of pride for your teams involved in those game types, you were hated. It just wasn't of importance, S&D was where it was at, if you weren't good at that, you weren't good at gaming.
