That proves absolutely nothing.

Someone who smokes or drinks can have the exact same impact. Someone who has an extremely time consuming job or hobby can have the exact same impact.

Really drugs are banned because of Christianity in America. Even alcohol was banned at one stage.

No, because no-one can control themselves anymore.
We'd just end up with a tonne of idiots living on the doll.

I think it should be decriminalised. But then again it really doesn't matter, if people want some they'll get some.

Not sure if this is up to date, found it lying around on my old HDD, interesting nonetheless:

Shouldn't we question why people do drugs... Do people actually feel that their life is that bad that they need the "high".. Shouldn't we help them to not feel in need of supplements..
Honestly, my life is pretty f***ing good and I don't think if it were legalised i'd even try it.. My life doesn't need to be lived while "high".. And for those who do use it regularly, they become dependent on it, not only on a chemical level but in order to enjoy themselves.. This info comes from what I have learned from an extremely addicted brother and how he feels whilst not using, which has been about 6 months now..

By this logic, why should alcohol be legal? It's used far more widely as a crutch and the repercussions are much worse.

Sorry but I had to laugh at the OP.

"Present your arguments"

hahahahhaa i like it.. i made this thread in a massive hurry to get to work in time haha, but i'm with it for a few reasons. Main one would be for medicinal marijuana, and also religious use. (not that i like religion at all, but its never going to go away, so why not let them do what they want.) Some Hindus, Buddhists, Rastafarians, and members of other religions use marijuana as part of their spiritual and religious ceremonies. These people deserve the freedom to practice their religion as they see fit.

But it would make your car feel even faster!

@homicide: That sort of thing gets brought up all the time, but i don't think it has too much to do with its legality. It is ridiculous to assert that regular users all become dependent. Alcohol is in the position cannabis would be in if it were legalised, yet look at the percentage of society who are alcoholic. I enjoy altering my state of consciousness and i find it offensive that you're insinuating that all drug use is the result of unhappiness or dysfunction. For me cannabis is something that i enjoy because frankly it feels nice and i don't think I need to hide that or feel ashamed about it. Actually, the thing i find stupidest about the whole debate is the people who campaign for medical usage when what they want is to be able to use it recreationally. That should be a good enough reason to argue for it, bullshit proxies don't get anyone anywhere.

That's not really an argument. Look at the way alcohol is handled now.

Why would this be a bigger issue than people walking/driving whilst being drunk?

So because alcohol is legal, marijuana should be legal. Thats not how it works.

You wait until the effects of alcohol wear off before you drive. You wait for the effects of cannabis to wear off before you drive.
I have no idea of the kinds of testing methods you would use for cannabis, or if it is be possible, which would obviously be a problem if it were the case.

I'm not saying just because alcohol is legal cannabis should be. But when comparing the effects of alcohol to the effects of cannabis it is a ridiculous double standard.

Interesting, then in that case, I think alcohol should be illegal.

Nice try 1919 America! That worked really well last time... Like i was saying, laws should be pragmatic, not idealistic.

Quietly, cannabis has in effect been decriminalised in Britain. The herb is now ubiquitous and effectively tolerated.
