League of Legends will put up a $5,000,000 prize in Season 2 of their World Championship.
League of Legends Developer Riot Games is putting up a $5 Million purse for the 2nd Season of its World Championship Series. Players from around the world will compete for a spot in the World Championship Finals in Los Angeles, California in October. The world champion will take home what Riot Games is billing as "the biggest payday in eSports history," taking a good hunk out of a $5 million prize pool offered across all of Season Two's events. Currently, top League of Legends teams have been participating in a series of Challenger Circuit events to qualify for the regional championships. The first of those will be staged July 26 in Shanghai, China.
The eSports scene is blowing up, with the Blizzard World Championship Series now followed by a $5 Million LoL tournament. The future of eSports is looking bright.

Obviously judging by the responses both on here and through our social media avenues, not many people knew about it, including us.
EDIT: Also, the official video from Riot was only released this month.

Yeah its been known for a while and since the video was released it has been spammed so hard on Official Tournament Streams.
I want to cut Phreaks hands off when he speaks.
Hopefully ACL gets a chance to pick it up in the near future.
