Big Prizes =/= Big Participation

Double Elim ODC every 4 weeks, 4-5 ODC's between now and H4.
Free or $5pp, I'd play either, but $5pp will attract more than it will discourage.
2 pros per team max.
$$ goes to winner.

Like the idea, but the plan is to create teams and increase player and team skill. If you would like to help people do this and play with them be my guest. I'm trying to steer away from random teams though as this is all I've seen for the past year + We want establishment between players.

With the lack of teams now days, how do you decide who is pro and who isn't?

Pro = You've placed Top 2 in a tournament this year. Sure, you might think some people don't deserve pro status in that instance, but that's irrelevant, it's designed to help stop the same general group of people taking everyone's money every time, so If some players aren't really pro, it's not going to make a difference anyway.

It's hardly random teams, how many pros do you think are going to play?
It's only Unite/iM/Terry + Hughz/NBT and top 2 melb and only around half would play at any given time.
ODC's have no pool play, this rule lessens that chance the some team pays $5 a piece to get pwnd in round 1 and then K/O'd in Round 2.
You'd be paying almost $1 per game and would be sitting on spawn for 3 of them, you can do that for free in a scrim and you'd get more games.
Also, the No Pro comp that was run by us when we were in Mindfreak had something like 27 teams sign up, so people seem to be more happy to play when the pro teams aren't playing, making them split up would have a similar effect I assume.

I'd say this is fair, of course there would have to be some extra rules applied for people who attended LAN's over in NZ. (not shooting at you more the NZ team)
but I think that would be alright

I think Pro status should be given out depending on attendance.
For example:
Under 15 teams, top 2 should be declared Pro.
Over 15 teams, top 4 should be declared Pro.

That would be a good idea, except no Halo LAN this year has had over 15 teams.

Oh I was talking about online. It could be modified for LAN. Maybe 10 teams.

I guess, but Pro status has been Top 2 online for a very long time, even when you had 24+ teams playing. Not only that, but I don't believe there's ever been an online round with under 15 teams either.

Oh I was under the impression it was top 4 Online just like LAN. My bad.
I was using 15 as an example but I guess over 20 would be a better amount.

Yeah. At the end of the day it doesn't bother me either way, I'll play regardless.
I just think it would benefit more people.

The good thing about having a tournament once a month is you can change some the rules to either attract more players/teams or improve the enjoyment factor of the tournament. Why not have a pro tourney one month and a no pro the next. Maybe even go a little crazy and do a Halo 3 tournament? There's a playable version of Halo 2 on PC you can play online and its free. everybody says they loved Halo 2 why not do a fun tourney out of that? These are all just ideas for people to think about and if I anybody does wanna run something like this I would be willing to help because the community will die before Halo 4 gets here at this rate...

Online Rounds have definitely lost the excitement they once held. We will be looking for ways to revamp them next year, some of which have been mentioned in this thread, but as always we value community input.
As for Online Round 4 is everything goes to plan it should actually be interesting and iM and Unite would be silly not to play in it ;)

I'll leave halo 3 up to acl as I'm not interested In halo 3. Halo reach is the current game and i want to Stick with that as Halo 4 has the reach engine anyway. People ALWAYS say they can get WAY more people to play halo 3 than people that would play reach, reality is that's bs.

This is meant to be as simple as possible with little complications and cross games is a big complication I think. People say reach is dead. Halo 3 died over 2 years ago people that couldn't transition still hold on that's all. As for the like of halo 2 same thing applies and even worse, seriously how many people would have to go out and buy that/ would even want to.
