There were a few surprise newcomers who impressed in early rounds, proving that the social scene is very much alive and kicking with skill in the Halo world. Most notably were Jonno (sporting an Instinct cap), Louis and his band of merry men who had never heard of ACL. These guys blitzed their early rounds and met up against some familiar ACL faces later on, narrowly missing the next stage or in Louis' case bowing out for RL commitments.

Having 3 machines to play on, we set up 6 person FFAs (2 player split screen) with an 8 minute time limit. The first round map was Guardian, second was Amplified, then the semi-finals and the Grand Final were played on Heretic. The grand final removed the 8 minute time limit and was a more traditional first to 50.
Typically though, the top 12 were all ACL regulars. Beware started immensely strong, going +31 in his first round only to falter slightly later on. NiiG and Jackamo were looking dangerous throughout the competition, while Adz was continually strong. Most interestingly though, three members of a little known (but long established) open team kept chipping away at results. Sex On The Beach members Gebus, Quenslandar and Steak all found a place in the final 6. These guys have been a strong, socially based MLG team for years but continue to impress. Uber flashy gameplay wasn't a must, but a solid BR and clever pushes saw them each through to the finals. These guys should not be underrated in Online R4 this weekend.

At the end of the day, Adz was just too strong, demonstrating his FFA prowess on Heretic and perhaps out to prove that he's still got it. And indeed he has, winning the competition with no immediate or pressing threats.
