Do more research Titan, that's my best advice after reading those two opposing posts.
It is possible to lose weight and gain muscle but it is very hard. Personally I've done it (despite my current physique) but I didn't "lose all of my fat fast". Normally, to lose weight, you need a calorie (energy) defecit and to build muscle you need a calorie surplus. Basically (and obviously), use more energy than you eat to lose weight, eat more energy than you need to build. What I did (when I actually achieved success at the gym, and am currently doing now) is running a calorie-defecit diet while eating heaaaaaaaps of protein with minimal carbs and fats. I combine that with 30-40mins of cardio and 30-40mins of medium-high intensity strength training, usually along the lines of 5 x 8 sets.
Specifically to you though Titan, just do more research. Simple points are eat lean, do lots of cardio and lift relatively heavy. Don't worry about supps too much, not in your early stages.
